It was actually an issue with when
developing K1A1. They had to increase the rear of the turret
and place the ammo rack further back to balance out the forward
weight of the 120mm gun which was putting great strain on the front

rollers/bearings of the turret race. The turret is balanced, or it
is not balanced. That has nothing to do with what's under the
turret. If you start with a balanced turret, and then extend the
ammo rack to the rear, you are going to have to do one of two
things. Either accept the fact that the turret is now less
balanced, with the disadvantages which result, or accept the fact
that you need to shove more weight on the front of the turret to
keep the turret in balance.
