The_Chieftain: I am not too familiar with the event, but I do seem to recall that the then-current military was willing enough to go after their former colleagues, the former military, about a hundred years ago in the bonus marches in DC. Patton ordered a cavalry charge, MacArthur used tanks. Even after the President ordered the attack stopped, MacArthur chose to go ahead anyway. Eisenhower wasn't such a fan, but officially endorsed the move afterwards. It might not bode well for proposed army defection rates in the future. However, it's all down to circumstance, Ten years later, military in Tenessee were quite willing to help arm citizens against the local police force which asn't respcting election results.   as as to the Olifant/Dai thing, it's going into PM territory, if you don't mind. Comfort level de-intensifying.
