The_Chieftain: Yes, that's how I'd expect to hear it referred to as. Of course,
being a tanker, I never referred to it much myself. We just call it
the MGS, and I'll wager the operators do as well. There's no
specific rule for verbalising in the US convention in reality.
We'll always refer to the tanks as 'tanks' or 'M1s', never
'Abrams', but we'll refer to the Bradleys as "Brads" or "Bradleys",
never "M2s" or "M3s." For reasons unknown, M113s are referred to as
"Fast tracks" not "one one threes" half the time, though obviously
by modern standards they aren't fast. I can only assume it's a
nickname which has stuck for decades.
