their patrol or do they play 'sniper safe' and move from hard cover

In wot that single 'sniper' aka arty can and will make
an entire team play it safe and stick to cover because they
have no idea who the arty is pointing at hence the 'arty safe'
gameplay that plagues the game. But the best part is there
is rarely ever just one. The_Chieftain: That rather depends on how important it is that the platoon
get from A to B. If there's a time constraint, then you're just
going to have to hope that the sniper is taken aback by rapid
movement, and doesn't cause that much damage. The CO is not likely
to be amused if the reason you failed to show up at the
support-by-fire position for his main assault was because you were
held up by a single guy with a rifle. The correlation would
be minefields in WWII. Often times, when confronted by a minefield,
the overall best strategy was to ignore the mines and just drive
through the minefield. You arguably would take fewer casualties as
you completed your mission, you just needed to actually convince
people to do it. Much easier in a computer game when the effects
are a little less... terminal.
