It's marketed as a memoir, not as a history book. As
such personal opinions, speculation and meandering are part of the
experience. The_Chieftain: I agree with this. I even say as much in my article, it's a
good memoir. I mention some two other good memoirs as well. The
problem is that no matter how hit is being marketed, it is not how
it is being taken, and the TV show based on it is not marketed as a
memoir at all. My point is not that nobody should read the book,
but as a factual, historical work, this book falls below a
reputable standard. As a personal memoir, it's fine as long as
one confines oneself to the parts of the book which are actually
memoirs.
