The_Chieftain:   M18 was designed to fit a very specific role in US doctrine and do it well. If the Soviets did not have such a role for it, it would not surprise me to find that they decided the vehicle sortof sucked by the standards they set for what they think the SPG should do.   it's why I am more interested in capability/engineering assessments than in combat utility assessments in most cases.
