The_Chieftain: In fairness, it was intended to replace the 75mm in the tank destroyer Ingrid with 57mm/6pr, it's why T48 was developed. The 6pr was suppressed to have a better AP capability. However, once the things were built, it was concluded that the advantage was only to 6pr at close range, 500 yards or less, which is why the US never adopted T48.
