such a contention. I'm noting that having guns isn't going to solve
anything in the first place, and it's being turned into an excuse
of "we must defend against criminals and evil state" while
abdicating the responsibility of a citizen of working within
society to reduce crime. There are other ways of protection
yourself, and the best protection of all is making society into a
place where crimes are unlikely to happen in the first place.The_Chieftain: "Unlikely" doesn't cut it for me. I only have one life, and
having a low overall national crimerate doesn't do me a whole hell
of a lot of good if I'm unlucky enough to be one of those very few
who actually happens to be that notable statistic to whom violent
crime actually occurs. In such a case, having a firearm
accessible is far more likely to solve my problem than any other
solution I can think of off the top of my head. There is no reason
why such a policy cannot work in conjunction with attempting
societal changes in order to reduce the chances of the firearm
being required to begin with.
