Why do Some Argue Against Skill Based MM?

not as easy to fiddle with as people think. Just changing it
to +1/-1 MM caused the queue times to blow out from a dozen seconds
to minutes when they experimented with that on the ASIA server
years ago. Of course the queue times are going to blow out if
you implement SBMM, it will have more variables. How much it
increases by is the big question and one that nobody will know
unless they actually implement it. So, so do we think
they will gamble the hundreds if not thousands of man hours
required to code this (and it will require that at the very least)
only to have the players go, meh, too long, don't like. Even
those people right here and now who are advocating this
change. Can you guarantee that YOU will keep playing if they
implement this? Or that "all those people who left because of
Random MM" will come back? (which has been said by some here).
Why would they bother? Seriously. Why would they
do this when the current Random MM is giving them the results they
want (ie Random) and the majority of the player base likes it that
way. That's right, the MAJORITY of the player base likes it
that way. The proof of that is the simple fact that the game
is still going. The supposition that the game would somehow
become massively more popular if SBMM was implemented is completely
unsubstantiated by any facts at all.
TeriyakiTanker: Ok, I'm not sure how many times I need to say this in the same
thread BUT I AM NOT A PROPONENT OF SBMM, get it through your
head. And even more importantly than that I am fully aware
that WG will not be implementing it. SO PLEASE READ WHAT I
HAVE WRITTEN BEFORE YOU REPLY. Now your first point is
interesting about them trying +1/-1 MM on the Asian server and the
effects, do you have any links to that information? It would
be interesting to read.
