Improving German vehicles

Tanitha: My main criticism with the German tanks is the Maus. Its big, bulky, and slow, and although its armored heavily and does ok against tanks. Its slaughtered by artillery. I think this will be worse with the introduction of the T8 Arty soon.
I'm not too sure of the solution to this, but I'll start with..
Maus (imo) needs to be more resistant to arty fire (HE), to make it a useful part on the battlefield and in clan-wars.
