Micro transactions is popular now days.
I hate free to play micro-transactions, because it can lead to pay to win, the more you pay the more advantages you can have, and i play hard to win, and don't like sinking in a lot of cash.
I love pay to play, because then everyone is paying the same, and it then comes down to how much time you sink into the game, and my time is free and I have plenty of it, So it suits me.
Back in the old days with Ultima online, I was a heavy seller and did it as a living for many years. Selling in game houses, gold, food, artifacts/equipment, rarities, etc. Some of the houses in game sold for $500 or $50 for the small ones. Artifacts were $50-$200 a piece, etc.. Food was like $1 per 1000. etc.. I was happy to spend the time playing. Others who didn't have the time to play were happy to spend the cash. Selling in game items is usually outlawed now, by the games and also by ebay. But back then there was some good times.
Anyway, each type of game type, (payment system) suits different people better.
And WOT is listed as free to play with micro transactions.
Its not my favorite system, but I'll play it anyway..
