NyxWGA: We won't be listing the names of illegal mods for exactly the
reason mentioned by others in the thread. Mods are developed by
third parties with no oversight by WG. When a mod changes, we don't
require any sort of approval process, so we don't know when changes
are made, or what those changes are. If I tell you that
"CheatersRUSmod" is illegal, the guy who makes "CheatersRUSmod" can
change the name and then folks can claim that the mod they are
using isn't on the list of illegal mods. If I tell you that
"TotallyLegitMod" is fine for everyone to use, and the guy who
makes "TotallyLegitMod" changes it tonight and now it fits into the
illegal description, folks will be very angry when they get
sanctioned for using it. It would be impossible to make a
list of the name of every mod that is illegal and keep it updated.
We would only be able to tell you if the mod was illegal right this
instant. Our list would be incorrect before the day was out.
Instead, we have given you the description of what makes a mod
illegal. If the mod you want to use fits into any of these
descriptions, it is illegal regardless of who made it, or what its
name is: *Revealing the positions of enemies in a way not
included in the vanilla client. Marking objects destroyed on the
map and minimap in real-time by altering the display of shell
flight tracers or calculating the position of enemy artillery with
tracers and marking them, as well as those that keep spotted
vehicles displayed, even when not aiming at them *Making it easier
to block an enemy’s shell by indicating their exact aiming point
(for example, with a laser beam) *Alerting you when spotted
vehicles are reloading, including displaying an enemy's reloading
timer *Auto-aim, or “aimbots” that provide more functionality than
the “aim lock” in the vanilla client, specifically those that aim
at the enemy's weak spots or automatically lead the aim so the
offending player can focus on maneuvering their tank *Enabling
automatic use of non-Premium consumables *Aiding in finding enemies
by letting you adjust the transparency of objects on the map
*Leaving “ghosts” of enemy vehicles on the battlefield where they
were last detected *Any direct alteration of the physical
properties, performance characteristics, or effects of any vehicle
or object in the game, or otherwise subverting the game rules
We spend time investigating accounts, and once we have
enough evidence to be sure the account is using one of these, we
take action. Accounts that we are not yet sure about remain under
investigation until we are sure. We do not release detailed
information or evidence regarding these bans, even to the account
holders - if we shared exact information about what we were
detecting and how we were doing it, mod makers would be able to use
it to make their cheats harder to detect. Disputing
moderation or banning is not allowed on the forums, which is why
threads are being closed.
