no problemo. I don't get a lot of opportunities to participate in thread discussions but I have taken a personal interest in removing afkers and bots.
first of all, it is confusing to us to have two separate game violations categorized together with "idle/bot"
though both are indications of an absent player they should be separated. One is clearly demonstrable with logs and the 2nd requires investigation by WoT/
internally these are separate beasts and it is far easier to take on afkers than bots
secondly - does reporting idle players actually do anything? The community has no evidence or results from WG doing anything and is appropriately skeptical that any action is taken once the reports are made. when I submit recordings all I get (as mentioned earlier) is "has the issue been resolved to your satisfaction" - hard to say since that answer alone lowers my confidence that the issue has even been looked at.
believe it or not, when multiple people supply us with replays of afkers, their accounts do get reset or closed. sending folks to support is not a way of dismissing them. it actually will accomplish something. our support staff are not able to speak as candidly as myself or other community management staff, so sometimes their responses may seem too dispassionate, but we have procedures which are always followed for every ticket submitted.
thirdly - would it really be that difficult to post in the pre-battle screens that "idle/afk players have their accounts reset and experience removed" if that is what actually happens?
currently, the bot / afk moderation is done manually after the incident. in the future, any development into the game, i would imagine, will be towards discouraging idle players and I think clearly stating in the post battle summary that no xp or credits were awarded to that individual
fourth - if a player does not move from starting position, fire a shot or rotate their turret- after 5 or 10 minutes they should be punished not rewarded with leeched xp and credits. Can WG please re-instate the tank blowing up as in previous versions if there is no activity key press after 5 minutes? That is simple really. If real life intervenes once or twice after they press the battle buttn sure, dont give them any xp credits, if say 5 or 10 repeats occur then yes - more sever punishment is due.
i would also like to see this in effect. i will forward your sentiments to the appropriate teams
fifth - every time the issue is brought up (because of the grouping in the complaint system) we get the community debating 2 different things- so as I asked in the first instance - separate the two.
this is a fair request, i will ask that the two get separated in our system
sixth - the ultimate goal is to stop this behavior - so at the moment, no messages are given pre-battle, no knowledge in the community that the behavior is punished so new players will start it anyway, and no immediate post game results to show that a completely idle player got away with it AGAIN.
I understand, I agree we should take steps to raise awareness. Let me chew on these ideas and see what I can do to help.
