terainMrVic: Pretty much. Most gunners that were considered "tank aces" did not
manually dial their sights in. They usually set its for 800m
usually for tiger aces and put a grease smudge on the lens to
denote where to aim for 400m ect then guessed the range on the fly
and referenced center of scope to their smudge mark and fired. with
practice you can get really good at ranging by eye. Due to work I
can eyeball up to 2500 feet +/- 20 feet easily now days.
