When Lert went to the Panzermuseum in Munster, Germany

Lert: So a German friend of mine drove over (I live in the Netherlands)
and treated me to a day to the Panzermuseum in Munster, Germany as
a (two weeks early) birthday present. I've written before
about my adventures in Overloon museum in the Netherlands where
they have several Shermans, a Cromwell, a Leopard 1, a Centurion Mk
5/1 and their best exhibit, a Panther G, but Munster completely
blows Overloon out of the water. Perhaps not in terms of size and
number of vehicles, but definitely in quality of exhibits. Where
the majority of vehicles at Overloon are allied transports,
recovery vehicles, motorcycles etc, the majority of vehicles in
Munster are actual tanks. Here is a small pick:
'Wotan', a replica A7V
PzKpfw I on a turntable, so
adorable. It's about as big as a VW beetle. The old, classic one.
PzKpfw 38(t), iconic
Marder III, known as Marder
38(t) in WoT, the little murdermachine that could.
JagdPanzer 38(t)
PzKpfw III Ausf. L with the
50 L/60
StuG III (I think Ausf G,
might be wrong), legendary
PzKfw IV Aus. G, with the 75
L/48
A mothertrucking JAGDPANTHER.
This thing was - .... Wow. I'm 6'3 and I can't see over the engine
deck. It has been on my bucket list for a long, long time to see a
JagdPanther, so I can cross that off. Eeeeee ...
PzKfw VI Tiger. This thing is
amazing to just stand next to. Almost as much as the~
F'ing KONIGSTIGER!!!! With
SturmTiger in the background for good measure. My inner wehraboo
squeed more than a little.
How enormous the KonigsTiger
really is. Pictures don't do it justice. I'm 6'3". Not
pictured: Various Leopard I's, a Patton or two, M41 Walker Bulldog,
Centurion, Leopard 2A4, T-34/85, Hummel, Stummel, KettenKrad,
Goliath, SWS ... If there's enough demand I'll post some of those
too. Crossposted.
