Lert: Wasn't the idea behind crying 'banning the recipient is unfair' to ... stop the need to ban the recipient? In the extreme case I outlined one would imagine the recipient would also get banned after an investigation of the matter, but that's a rather extreme case of abuse, rather than what happened in OP's case.
