flipping out over letting an untrained and probably hysterical
person(if a loved one or friend or just the hysterical type) trying
to use a defib on someone showing the signs of a heart attack.
Also what if it wasn't a heart attack and was something
else? Plenty of conditions that mimic a heart attack but are
not actually one which is why waiting for an ambulance and the
trained professionals would probably be the safer bet. I can
still see plenty of uses as a first responder with a basic med pack
of common items like bandages, pain killers etc and a direct
link to an emergency room staff via a radio for outdoor situations
where an ambulance is either going to be a long way away or
completely out of the question unless its a helicopter.Lert: They're working on alternate payloads like med packs and
common items like desinfectants and bandages. As for untrained
personel etc etc - as I said in my OP, that is a concern that needs
working on. However, as commented by someone else, these devices
are modern enough not to shock when there's no direct need to, and
there is direct audiovisual communication between the bystander and
the emergency services operator as is shown in the video.
Besides, there are already defibs in public places for the public
to use in case of emergency, with nothing but written instructions
and the machine's own programmed logic. These are proven to work.
This drone goes way beyond that. The system as is, is not
perfect. But I'd rather have a 1 minute response time with
audiovisual instruction from a trained professional with the
ambulance 10 minutes away, than only an ambulance 10 minutes away.
All this system is, is another tool.
