Round Pen issues

Driving an IS-2 with the upgraded 128mm  (175 Pen at less than 100M and 250 if using HEAT) up against an HT No VI (hull armor 100/80/80) and a VK 36.01 (hull armor 100/60/60). I wish I had a video capture of this, because there was no side scraping or angled front shots everything was pretty much straight on. I put 2 rounds into the lower front plate of the HT, again straight on, with no pen, and 1 into a good side shot... no pen. Switched to HEAT and fired another into the front, and another into the side, again no pens. In the interim the VK got in the way during the exchange and I bounced 2 rounds off it's side, shot still using HEAT, because I was in WTH mode at this point. All the while they are penning my front armor like it's made of wax. Wasn't until the 5 side shot, 3rd on the VK that I got a pen. Hell, my regular rounds should have ate them up from the front, and I should have never even had to use Prem ammo. We still won, but that just seemed to defy the odds, like as into the range of impossible. Is it just me, or are any of you having similar oddities of late? One of these days I have to start capturing my matches. I'm beginning to think this game hates me.
