At some point, WG noticed the error and changed it to:

I kinda figured 3x XP for the whole weekend was too good to be true, but I don't know how much WG has invested in the Ural Steel Event.
If WG wanted to show someone (Investors, Advertisers, Etc) how many people they can get online; then having an Event like 3X XP ALL WEEKEND would sure keep the servers full all weekend.
