US Tanks No longer "Free to Play"?

With the recent changes to the Economy it seems that, for reasons that I'm sure are purely logical and completely objective, the US money making tanks, e2,e8 and M4 all received massive income cuts and/or repair bill increases. This change is really quite interesting seeing as how the German's money maker tanks pz4, Stug and 3/4's changes were negligible. As per usual the Soviet money makers were all given significant income increases.
Some people swear by the M4 but I thought it was really quite unimpressive and now with the pay cuts I would never consider using it to grind credits. The Easy8/2 were good credit grinders up until this latest patch but now you are looking at a loss in credits unless you have a stellar game on defeats and sub-par credits on victories. The M10 could be an option but it too took a credit hit as well and gets 1 shotted way to often to be seriously considered IMO. So what does that leave us with? The under powered T1 heavy? No thanks. I don't really see any profitable option aside from pay-tanks and pretty much all the US pay tanks are pretty lame.
So is this the end of so-called "Free-to-play" US tanking in WoT? What do you think?

GeneralDirection: The changes were larger to the US tech tree because prior to the update those tanks had the highest income potential of all tanks for their tiers.
