There are extremely easy options, tasks, that can prevent such agony, needless suffering. Progetto 46 crew transfers over, crew position to position. Heck, all it requires is 2million credits, to make a stock 100% efficiency crew, now have core crew::  6th sense, smooth ride, snap shot, wet ammo rack all 100%, and 52% neutral that you will spend for retraining into Carro (heavy) which any remainder after the transaction, say 15-18% neutral I cannot remember exactly. It is then used for repairs. Or alternatively, 17% into mentor, wet ammo rack, smooth ride, snap shot and 100% BIA to show for your 2 million credits. Heck, progetto not even necessary. P43 farming bots tier 5, getting 1K damage per game, talk about easy. 2 million credits into that, again same scenario. Starting off with 100 base, 100 1st skill, 17% leftover.  I am sorry, unacceptable answer. While I do have pity, pity is for where pity is due. Like a 1 vs 5 jag panzer with 10 K damage who is alone and gets tracked and loses with 10 K damage. Not for those that self inflict pain and suffering. And then have the gall and bitterness to blame something else over their own inability or failure to plan. Which itself is a plan, a plan to fail.
