Often, though not always, a player will spend more credits than they probably want in the match because they face opponents that otherwise they feel they have almost no chance of damaging due to Tier imbalance (3 Tier matches), map design that (by design) compel face to face battles that favor the heavies and provide little opportunity for escape (corridors).
Draschel: While ammunition may equal the aiming field, it does not
equal the battlefield.A medium tank or light tank, or lower tier
heavy, can switch to premium ammunition and open up new penetration
opportunities on a higher tier target. That may otherwise, and
usually does, bully low tiers. However, while aiming is provided as
easier now, it does not solve the facts of: higher tier has
more alpha probably, more DPM probably, more HP, will likely trade
far more positively, and will need to aim less while you aim
more (again he gets a DPM buff, and you get a DPM nerf)
In the case of med vs heavy, meds do get DPM, but heavy
tanks get alpha, and in a general positional fight which late tiers
usually boil into, position and trading happen more than open DPM
onslaught. Heavies are favored, heavily. Furthermore, a
typical med still needs to aim at where it shoots heavy tanks even
with premium selection, premium doesn't simply void armor. But a
heavy, if it is using premium vs a medium, generally can even
frankly auto aim the target, and expect penetration except vs 430U,
which is a heavy.....(113) Again, heavy tank is favored. So while
people like to moan, cry, exaggerate the issue.....far more likely
the case is....the heavy tank still has the advantage in
confrontation, even when premium factored in. The true
equalizer here is class benefits. Medium tanks are faster and
dynamic, are smaller and cast less arty shadow, have better camo
rate. These things, allow medium and light tanks, while using
premium ammunition, to exploit a heavy tank while it is left
in helpless situations, like Prokhorovka Malinovka
Redshire Murovanka. This pisses off heavy tank drivers,
insanely and is a cause for extreme frustration because they are
being hit by a prem spamming invisible tank. But the real
problem isn't premium, the problem here is maps and position.
It happens the other way around too, arty hate being
on Ensk, Himmelsdorf, Paris, minsk.
S1 TD too, same thing. This is an issue, of classes and
maps, not really about prem rounds being a
disease. Then there is MM. Are we really going to
blame a PZNA38 penetrating OI into the sides with 70
damage APCR? When the PZNA has to do it tens of times for
lethality, while the OI can easily 1 shot
it? How about a poor soul HK12, using HEAT vs object
268V4 for 240 damage, just to let the driver know he won't be
pushed around. What is wrong with this? Crying about
premium is a scapegoat. It is what bad players cry foul with,
because they are outplayed and want SOMETHING to harp back with. Or
in the wrong class, wrong map. Everyone can use it, no one
should be a baby and cry over it.
