So, the way it's laid-out in this support article: https://help.id.me/hc/en-us/articles/202211570-Which-Troop-ID-verification-option-should-I-select-# I think family members have to verify using military documents. I'm not 100% on this and I do recommend contacting ID.me's support team for any questions that we can't answer - I'm sure they get these questions a lot and would be more than happy to walk you through the process.
However, from what I've gathered by reading their support pages and going as far through the registration process as it would allow me - when you are uploading your military documents, there is a dropdown that allows you to choose your affiliation. This will allow you to specify that you are a family member of the individual whose documents you are uploading.
As a reminder we are also a European company and we strictly comply with GDPR. At any time you can remove the ID.me binding from your Wargaming.net ID via your account settings, and we will no longer have access to any of that information. Regardless, however: the only info Wargaming gets from ID.me is a yes or no, and a 'military personnel vs. family member'. At no point do we ever get to see your SSN or other sensitive information.
This is an NA project so global doesn't even have a reason to stick their hands in the cookie jar. The Kremlin has no access to your data through ID.me
