to us plebs why it is that marketing and data gathering aren't
standardized and centralized across the servers? Honestly, I
would think that it would be of a great benefit that everything be
uniform. But, I admit to not understanding the practices and
nuances between the servers (ie., I understand that every Fortune
100 company that I've worked for has had US, Canada, Mexico, and
even European divisions, all of which did the same thing but did so
in a slightly different manner).DomoSapien: Each Region is run, well, regionally. We have different
regional events and sales corresponding to those events...
different Community Teams, Production Teams, Business Intelligence,
Analytics, etc... virtually all publishing activities are handled
regionally, so sales are as well. It's actually kind of funny, if
you go on the WoT subreddit, in the course of a week you'll
sometimes see threads to the effect of "Why does WG hate EU? NA
gets this awesome sale/event" then other threads to the effect of
"Why does WG hate NA? EU gets this awesome sale/event" literally a
few days later. It's cyclical - sometimes folks like what we're
doing in NA, other times they do not.
In the interest of not filling out a bunch of block quotes in my reply: to the effect of "you won't get useful data from NA" - That depends on what type of data we're trying to gather; if we're trying to see the difference in overall participation between the old format and this opt-in format, then that would actually be precisely the data we're trying to gather. It's easy and convenient to assume we don't know what the heck we're doing but I have a lot of respect for the folks I work with - they're all pretty intelligent people so I'm assuming that there is in fact a method to their madness. I am also praying that they get the data they need during the month of April and go back to having standard recurring missions like the "On Track"s and x3 weekends, etc. automatically served to players rather than making them enter codes to receive them. That said, personally I would be okay with the idea of having 'extra' missions here and there for folks who take the time to find and enter the bonus code, as long as they are just that -- extra. Recurring activities that have been historically cyclical and unchanged more-or-less since they were introduced shouldn't require you to expend additional effort to keep receiving them. But that's just my opinion and I work for WG so... take it with a grain of salt?

of the internet just needs a button on the mission boxes to
hide this box if you don't want to see it in the missions
tab. DomoSapien:
First off, I generally agree with you. A simple solution to UI clutter would be either starting the boxes minimized or forcing the client to recall your preference and leave them minimized after you log out/back in (as opposed to maximizing them every. damn. time.)
That said, "scouring the nether regions of the internet?" Really? If by "scouring" you mean "clicking on the most recent articles" and by "nether regions of the internet" you mean "worldoftanks.com/en/news".... If there is a Silver lining to all this, I did overhear a conversation between CabbageMechanic and the Monetization/Events teams when I was passing by a meeting room yesterday, and it seemed to pretty heavily involve all the negative feedback we've been receiving about these opt-in missions. So if they somehow weren't aware of the sentiment before, they definitely are now.
