albeit very rare, thing. They seem to be caused by a rarely
occurring sort of disconnect in the server. There is little
likelihood of this being completely cured, and there is nothing
players can do about it. Therefore, just don't worry about
it, it's not affecting anyone's game very much.DomoSapien: Accurate, but not entirely. Namely:
The client and server operate on what could be described as a "predictive" model. When you experience packet loss, on your screen every vehicle will continue inputting the key they were inputting when you stopped sending/receiving packets to/from the server. (Have you ever held A or D at the end of a battle and your tank just continues driving in a circle before you get booted back to the garage? That's exactly what's happening when you experience packet loss.)
The reason I say your description isn't entirely accurate? It suggests this is just a random server issue that pops up now and then. That's not really the case, for the most part. If it was a server issue we would be doing everything we can to fix it.
However, "Ghost Shells" occur when you experience packet loss because the vehicle you see on your screen isn't actually in the exact same position on the actual server. It's typically a connection issue that exists outside of the game server, otherwise all the players in the battle would be experiencing that packet loss simultaneously.

but when you compare it to the hundreds of thousands, if not
millions of shots that are fired in-game every week, personally I
would indeed call that "rare"
EDIT: All of that said, our Customer Support teamwould be more than happy to help you run a Pingplotter diagnostic on your connection and figure out if any of the hops along your packets' way to our servers and back are malfunctioning.
