I think the idea behind having an alternate available was 'if my third person can't show up due to a last minute schedule conflict, I have a 4th man registered to back him up and we're not playing 2v3' - sadly this rule has been posted to the tournaments page and the Gold Cup rules since they were published, and I don't have the ability to get it changed retroactively, since it's not directly related to the scheduling mishap.
Silver lining, however. I did get approval for a Compensation package regarding the reschedule. It may not be to everyone's satisfaction, so I'd like to break things down a bit and explain the rationale behind this decision. The Compensation package will be going out to all players that advanced to Gold Cup Playoffs & the Grand Final. This means that all teams from the Gold Cup Playoffs, and all teams from the Silver Cup that were scheduled to participate in the Grand Final will receive these goods. This compensation will be going out to all players on each of these teams - 1x Forward-2018 Style -2x 50% Credit Boosters (2hr) -2x 100% XP Boosters (2hr)
I know some players have requested the receipt of the Grand Finals Camouflage Style, however other players, have raised concerns (which we feel are valid) that crediting out this style to all Gold Cup Finalists would detract from the exclusivity of the style as it is one of the rarest styles currently in-game, which would be unfair to the players that qualified for it in the Grand Finals. Doing the same thing with the Rolling Steel camouflage style would also be unfair to the players that placed in the Rolling Steel leaderboards and earned Rolling Steel Camo Styles.
With this in mind, the Forward-2018 style was selected, since it still looks really cool and has an in-game value of 1750 Gold. The standard compensation for technical issues is one 1hr 50% Credit Booster, so we did our best to sweeten the deal a little bit. Personally, I think the Forward-2018 style is cooler, so I picked that one but if there is a big desire to get the goalkeeper style instead, we can adjust the payout since it won't be going out for at least a few days. Asking players to contact us and select prizes on a case by case basis for the Friday the 13th Tournament we did a little while ago turned out to pose quite a few logistic challenges, so I'm afraid we won't be able to swap them out on a case-by-case basis this time around. With this in mind, it's one or the other, for everybody.
