Why do Some Argue Against Skill Based MM?

DeviouslyCursed: Let me try explaining why Random MM is awesome this
way: Random MM gives all players the same 14 vs 15 battles
over time. We all get really good ones in our favor. We all get
really bad ones not in our favor. Most of them fall in the
middle. I view this as a trial. The Random MM is giving
everyone a wide set of skill match ups, variations, tank
differences, etc. Then each player gets to see what they can do
with it. It is a dynamic, ever changing thing; you never know what
you are going to have to face. This adds much need variety, and
this alone is what allows players to stand out. If your 14
teammates average skill is slight worse then the enemy 15 players,
can you over come that? If so, good on you, you get to win that
match up when others can't. What about if they are fairly
worse than the enemy? And so on. Of course, this means there may be
some 14 v 15 matchups that no player will be able to win
consistently when put in there (and some matchups that no one will
lose consistently either). It's not just about losing or winning
that one really stacked against you battle either. It's about how
many of those you can pull off over time. But it has to be this way
if you really want to see where players stand. You'll never
find out how high people can jump if everyone can touch the
ceiling.
