Why Does MM Keep Stacking Teams?

View PostSimplyPzB2, on Jul 22 2021 - 22:51, said: I am not sure I ever said "steamrolls should build up disparity much sooner".  (Honeslty, I just don't recall making that point... but I could be wrong). - That said, your data is still meaningless, for a reason.  It doesn't impact the 'why' certain losses happen.  And this also happens for a reason.  Killing 15 tanks takes a certain amount of time, you have to find the enemy, shoot the enemy, drive across the map, etc. etc.  - So a snowball loss is one where two equal teams are playing.  One of the teams gets an early advantage, builds on that advantage, and the advantage snowballs. - A steamroll loss is one where a very good team plays a very bad team.  And the very good team simply pushes the 'w' key and steamrolls over the less skilled team. - It's 'basically the same mechanics', and thus if you think about it, SHOULD pace out similarly.   - But there is  HUGE difference in the WHY for each type of blowout.   - Two good pro teams play each other.  One team gets and early advantage, it snowballs, and they blow out the other team.   - One pro team plays a college team.  The skill gap IS the early advantage.  The college team isn't nearly as skilled and has no real chance to win. - But in both cases, the game is the same.  So the game clocke works the same, the plays are the same, etc etc. - thus the 'data on paper' looks the same. - I really can't believe you don't understand this...

DeviouslyCursed:  You are literally saying, "if mismatch then it happens because of X, but if no mismatch it happens because of Y" with no data to support your position. If what you say is true, then blowouts should happen far more often in mismatched games. Because you would have X+Y happening. But they do not. This indicates the X you are blaming does not actually exist, or is so small as to be not relevant. I really can't believe you don't understand this. Actually, I can, because most of the positions you take are counter to what the data shows.
