Why do Some Argue Against Skill Based MM?

meaningless. A very good player in a stock tank will beat a
noob in a pimped tank every time.
SimplyPzB2, on May 18 2021 - 20:03, said: You can't just look at 'half' the equation. You can't, on one hand cry about getting worse teamates, but on the other hand not cry for the original team that had a worse team.
SimplyPzB2, on May 18 2021 - 20:03, said: Sbmm can NEVER 'discriminate' against any player, good or bad?
SimplyPzB2, on May 18 2021 - 20:03, said: Why? Because under sbmm, both teams are roughly equal. Under sbmm you can never be 'put on the bad team', because there can be no bad team under sbmm. Nor can you be put 'on the good team', because one team is never better than the other team.
SimplyPzB2, on May 18 2021 - 20:03, said: What most people who make this mistake are doing is comparing half the current mm with half the sbmm. They take a player on a good team under the current mm, then look at the team he'd be on under sbmm. Then they say "he's getting worse teammates". That's not how it works.
DeviouslyCursed: THANK YOU! You just admitted a major problem with SBMM! You
just acknowledged my point about the problem with playing stock
tanks in account rated SBMMs! The sad thing is, you probably
don't even realize it. Your comparison of a purple in a stock
tank beating a red in a fully researched or OP tank is a benefit of
Random MM! Where you don't get punished for playing stock or
underpowered tanks. If you can still play better than the average
player, you're still helping your team! BUT, under your SBMM the
purple will be paired off against ANOTHER PURPLE! For my
concern to be 'babble' (as you put it), your statement would have
to be: "A very good player in a stock tank will beat another very
good player in a pimped tank 50% of the time." And you and I and
everyone else knows that is pure BS! That's why you used
"a noob" in your example, but he's not pared off against a noob!
He's paired off against another purple! Thank you for
acknowledging that SBMM sucks because of the issue I brought up!
Not even you were foolish enough to pretend a purple in a stock can
beat a purple in a good tank. That also means the match isn't
balanced! And we're not talking a little bit off, we're talking
purple in good tank gets to farm the reds and the stock purple!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! SBMM sucks. You heard it here from
SimplyPzB2!

DeviouslyCursed: You can't just look at 'half' the equation. You can't, on one
hand cry about getting worse teams, but on the other hand not cry
about some people being gifted good teammates and others getting
shafted with reds. Have you not noticed I'm frequently using
your own words and rationalizations against you? Do you not realize
that I can do this and it makes perfect sense because there are
pluses and minus to both sides, and which one is better depends on
how you subjectively weight the pluses and minuses for each
MM?

DeviouslyCursed: Yes, it can and does.
DeviouslyCursed: And to make those teams fair, you have to punish good
players, and reward bad ones.

DeviouslyCursed: I'm not using half and half. I'm using all under one, and all
under the other. And that's exactly how it works. Using your
example teammates team
1 team
2purple
2
3red
12
11 Which teammates are demonstrably worse? What if this
happens 6 times? under SBMMteammates team
1 team
2purple
12
18red
72
66 One set of teammates is clearly better. Why is one player
punished with worse teammates? These sets of teammates are not
equal, and this is not fair. under Random MMteammates
team 1
team
2purple
15
15red
69
69 The 2 players are treated equally and fairly, neither gets
a built in bonus due to MMGranted, small sample size it generally
won't be perfect, but over time, yes, they are the same. Any
advantage a player gets from the Random MM, they have EARNED with
solid play, and contributing to their team's victory.Under SBMM
less skilled player are GIVEN better teammates, and good players
are PENALIZED with worse teammates, all so some people will stop
crying about some unbalanced games.
