Why do Some Argue Against Skill Based MM?

times: "Would" occur if the skill balance occurred "during"
team generation, i.e. if they factored in skill like they do tiers
and tank types. BUT, that's not how sbmm works. Sbmm
uses the current mm exactly as it works now - i.e. no additional
time. THEN, after the teams are created, simply swaps a few players
between teams to balance team skill. Sorting 30 players is
milliseconds of work for a computer. - I will agree pulling out the
miracle win is great. BUT, out of every 100 battles you
were 'supposed to lose', you'll only pull out 10-15
wins. Those 10-15 wins rely heavily on luck, on the
better team being lazy/sloppy/stupid. And 10-15 great wins
does NOT balance out 85-90 crapfest losses. - You are 100% wrong on
how sbmm assigns better/worse teammates. sbmm doesn't assign
anyone better/worse teamates. It assigns ALL PLAYERS BALANCED
TEAMS. If 100% of your battles are between balanced teams,
you the individual, are never burdened by 'more reds' - because the
enemy team has the same number of reds. Nor are you ever
gifted by 'more purples' - because the enemy team has the same
number of purples. - Your simple fact statement is wrong.
random generates unfair battles about 40% of the time. That's
back up by tons of data. Neatoman posted an 18,000 battle
data set showing this. But within that data set, 100%
of the balanced battles were exactly that balanced. Not a
single balanced battle was 'unfair'. The mistake you
are making is you are comparing a stacked team generated under the
current random mm vs. a balanced team generated under sbmm.
That's apple to oranges. - I have to laugh at your "I won't
play sbmm"... it's truly funny. You do realize that 60%
of all your battles WERE BALANCED? Right? I mean you do
get 6/10 of all your battles ARE BALANCED? Kinda makes
your anit-sbmm position look rather foolish...
DeviouslyCursed: That is how most SBMM systems work. I've yet to see any SBMM
in any game work like you are stating it does. That's your version
of SBMM that you have envisioned. There are SBMM out there was does
work exactly as I said. Acting like your version of SBMM is the
only possibly one is foolish in the extreme. I am talking about
SBMM in general, because if you and others convince WG to implement
it, there is no guarantee they will use the version you are talking
about. You completely ignored my point about teammates. You
step around it deliberately because you know I'm right. Use SBMM
and take 100 battles from a purple player, and 100 battles from a
red player. Tally up their 14 teammates over all those 100 battles.
The purple players teammates look vastly different than the red
players teammates. FACT. SBMM would assign players different
teammates. FACT. It discriminates against one player, and gives
another a benefit. FACT. ***Acknowledge this or show me with
examples how the person's TEAMMATES will be the same despite the
matches being forced to balance.*** This conversation is going to
end quick and return to insults if you can't do this one simple
thing. I will not continue an open discussion with a dishonest
participant. Let me put it another way: The very FACT that
SBMM is moving people around means it is, 100% verified by this
process, discriminating against some players based on the metric it
is using to move people. You laughing at me saying I won't
play if SBMM with account side is implemented. That's because you
don't understand, again, what I am talking about, and the massive
problems with account wide elo ratings. You play an average tank
for you, you are rated properly, you play one of your best tanks,
you will be underrated and win more. If you keep playing your best
tanks, now your elo is based on your best tanks. The moment you
switch to a bad tank, or a stock tank, you are gimping your team
because the SBMM expects you to perform at your best tanks level,
but you won't. Account wide SBMM is the death of the game. It has
nothing to do with "balanced" battles. In fact, it is because the
SBMM will deliberately make unbalanced battles while trying to
balance them when you play crappy tanks or stock tanks. I've
stopped playing every MOBA I've ever tried specifically because of
this issue.
