Japanese Medium Line Opinions?

For example the premium tier VI tanks - T34-85M, Rudy, Pudel.    My question is, should i give up on the Japanese medium line and play something else or do you think the tier VIII, tier IX and tier X are worth trying to get.  I am just wondering whether it is worth the aggravation of continuing up the Japanese medium line, or should i go onto something else.
