Captain_Judo: The design of this tournament was intended all along. We discussed ad nauseum whether to display the full details at registration but finally agreed that doing so would undermine the purpose of this event. That is, you're forced out of your comfort zone to play with a team you don't know. Maybe, just maybe, some will make new allies (so to speak) from this. It's also inevitable that the opposite is true.   This is a one of a kind event, not a continuous tournament type. Be mindful of your words here and when contacting your new teammates as you will need to rely on eachother. I suggest steering away from  "vegetable" talk, unless you're intentionally trying to create friction with your teammates.
