Is the ISU-122S worth getting?

View PostScorpiany, on May 18 2018 - 02:14, said:     Misleading image you've posted. Your ISU-122S is using values with crew, while the SU-122-44 in the image is not. The aim time and accuracy for example, are identical. The image shows it being superior on the ISU-122S when that is not the case.   Use this comparison instead: https://tanks.gg/tank/isu-122s/stats?cs=su-122-44 T   Tanks.gg also shows you hidden statistics that are not shown in-game. Furthermore, you didn't touch on the impact of the armor differences nearly as much as you should have. The SU-122-44's armor is significantly better than the ISU-122S's armor. The ISU's armor is flat, and only has 100mm of effective penetration. The SU-122-44's armor on the other hand is angled very well, and as a result provides 150mm-170mm of effective protection. This means that while the ISU-122S will provide practically no protection against most targets that are not shooting HE shells, the SU-122-44 will be able to bounce most lower Tiered tanks very reliable, and if angling the armor, the SU-122-44 can create some auto-bounce angles while the ISU-122S simply cannot.   Lastly, the SU-122-44 is a lower profile vehicle. As a result, its camo values are substantially better than the ISU-122S. Your image however, because of the Camo Net you have mounted on the tank, makes it look as though the ISU's camo is better. The reality is quite different. The SU-122-44's camo values are as follow: 21.55/12.94/5.82. The ISU-122S's camo values are: 15.05/9.06/2.86. As you can see, the SU-122-44's camo values are significantly better all across the board.   Overall, the SU-122-44 becomes a much better assault tank and aggressive flanker because of the combination of mobility and armor. It's also easier to hide because of the camo values, which helps it ambush its opponents. This is especially true in a favorable matchup. The ISU-122S on the other hand is rather limited in this regard, and only really stands out in regards to its View Range / firepower. ISU-122S will definitely have the better gun performance, but it's on a sluggish, poorly armored platform.   This means that the SU-122-44 is the more competitive tank, and is a better option for all players. The benefits of the ISU-122S's gun and view range just don't make up for what it lacks in mobility, armor and camo rating. The SU-122-44 can lay out an ambush, it can flank and it can assault. The ISU-122S can't do any of those things.     While I understand you were only trying to help, you ultimately ended up posting false and misleading information. This is one of many reasons why players don't trust WarGaming employees - It often feels as though they don't understand the game when they make decisions. Unfortunately, this displays just that.   Because of a careless oversight when comparing the 2 tanks, using a comparison tool that doesn't display hidden statistics, as well as disregarding the impact certain characteristics have on gameplay, you ended up making a poor recommendation and made an inferior tank appear far better than it really is.

BigDaddyLaxative:   You're absolutely correct!  Thanks for bringing that up.  The crew I had in the 122s was the BIA crew along with a 60-65% camo, and the su-122-44 had Camo applied to it.  I've updated the images so values aren't misleading anymore.    My post was to simply to share my experience along with the simple breakdown of the different values of the tanks, which obviously was misleading and I apologize for that.
