I'm tired of the HATE

I was down to 1/3rd health and a VK3601 ran in close to the buildings and I was peek-a-booming him.... I manage to get him down to about 1/3rd health from 100%, but I know there's a TII and an SU 152 with these buildings in their sights, not to mention three enemy arty, a T20 and a T32 out there still, so when the VK disappears around the base side of the buildings I don't follow... Suddenly, I'm getting all kinds of ignorant, nasty, vicious chat over the coms - a couple of my dead team members are chewing me out because the VK is shooting at exposed artillary on the hill. Well, that's too bad, but there isn't much I can do about it because if I stick my nose around the cover of these buildings, I'm dead, so the VK gets two of our three arty...
Irrelevant, apparently - one of these guys spends the rest of the game calling me a coward an idiot a faggot whatevercomesintohistoadylittlemind... Then he was telling me he was going to TK me if he ever saw me in a match with him again, and he was broadcasting at least some of this open channel to both teams...
The VK came out of cover and I killed him, but this team mate just continues with a vicious spew of ignorance and hatred and suddenly I just didn't want to deal with it any more... Sure there's an ignore list, but trying to figure out how to make that work in the middle of the fight is more than I can manage, so when their T20 came over the hill I just let him shoot me...
Now, the player who was railing at me was dead - he had a T32 and two kills and was chewed up in an early rush. I just checked his rep here on the forums and it's -62, which I guess says something... But somehow, all his crap really got to me yesterday, and I've been renting him far too much space in my head since. He isn't the first ignorant so-an-so I've run into playing the game - in fact, I was called a moron and a noob and blamed for losing another game earlier that day because I wouldn't try to run my wounded Tiger across a hundred meters of open space (up hill) while in a peek-a-boom fight with a T32 and a Lowe in order to defend against a cap, but I digress... My point is that this guy was the straw that broke the camel's back, and honestly, right now I don't want to play anymore.
I may not be the best player on the field, but I try to carry my weight, and I do the best I can with what I've got... I try to play intelligently, fill holes where I can, sacrifice my tank on the weak flank to buy time and give the guys on the stronger one a chance to push, that kind of thing... None of that seems to matter to the back-seat haters though - they just decide I'm responsible as a late-game survivor for all the ills that have befallen them that match and that's it... I'm to blame...
Now, the last on-line game I played was Air Warrior back in the days of CompuServe, and the players exhibited respect and amiability and consideration for one another - playing was always fun, failure was good for a laugh, cooperation was high... Things sure have changed... I don't know why these guys have to be so mean and hateful, but it's just so sad and depressing... it's really spoiled the game for me, and I don't want to deal with it for a while...
