offensive, both can be considering merely expressing an opinion.
And while arguable subjective, both can be considered speaking the
truth (or at least a truth). Don't get me wrong, I have no issues
with expressing the way you did. But the notion that calling a
spade a spade is fine as long as you don't point at it, doesn't fly
with me around here. Stating that tip toeing the line can be
completely safe is true to some extend, as it all boils down to
whether or not someone clicks the 'report' button (which could
simply be out of spite), and the rather inconsistent, subjective
moderation around here. As you can find yourself sanctioned weeks
later, or even years later as the necro'd thread from yesterday
demonstrated: rather then lock and junk the thread, the moderator
opted to edit a post from 2016 in it... Try
reasoning with moderation on this, you won't get anywhere. And
that's the point I'm trying to make with eekeeboo. You can
sugarcoat it any way you want, claim that it wasn't directed at any
one, and still end up sanctioned just because someone hit that
'report' button. Moreover, you can even get another sanction on top
of it simply trying to discuss it. eekeeboo: One is offending a person/people, the other is describing
the behaviour by a set or group of people not targeted or
mentioned. As I mentioned you have people who could infer "These
offensive people are fools" or "This person is being
a fool!". When you stop targeting it at a person
or any particular person then you're getting there.
The necro issue is something I plan to address when I get around to
re-doing the forums along with other languages! And hopefully no
subjective moderation. You can appeal moderation issues and as long
as you didn't actively offend a particular group or a person(s)
that can be identified you're on the right line. And the problem
some have is they make a claim at being directed at someone then
try to hide it, vs directing it at no one and someone trying to
find offense is probably the easiest way to differentiate.
