leopard the shittyest tank ingame. And when you consider
that the leopard has been one of the best tanks for years in
real life (this is one of the reasons why a lot beginers are
grinding it), its ingame status is more than unfair! You
claim our feedback is important, prove it. You have more than
enough regarding this matter!!!eekeeboo: Thank you for taking the time to read the WG fest
announcement and the "What's coming in 2019 announcement". Please
prove you've actually done something other than come here to type
something and trigger a response.

businesses? Do you genuinely believe this is a really sensible
approach for any business? please consider the reality before
typing an over exaggerated sentence. It's like me saying "You
are really tryhard to destroy the playerbase and the forums!"
Captain_Tickle, on 17 January 2019 - 06:52 PM, said: The Chimaera buff at the same time is to deflect as much criticism
as possible from the Obj 279e buffs. The already OP 279e is
being buffed so that when they re-balance premium ammo, and
they nerf the Type 5s etc, they can slightly nerf
the 279e armour, and claim they are doing things fairly. So
the 279e will be at least as strong as it is now
armour-wise (with better gun handling), but all the premium
ammo will have been nerfed. Ta daa!eekeeboo: No, it's because the tanks will go through the balancing
passes and data review with the other vehicles over time. While the
proposed vehicle rebalances are also being looked into as per the
previous announcements. It may help to look at the actual changes
to the vehicle too.
ToodlePips, on 17 January 2019 - 07:03 PM, said: Yeah sure, we don't see the bigger picture right? Just like
we didn't with the Object 268 4, the Type 5 Heavy, the 430 U ... I
mean, I see the point - of course a tank that will only ever be
played by the most skilled player must be buffed to max so their
winrates get even better, right? Because it is not frustrating at
all to play a match when I see the enemy has a unicum sitting in an
overpowered tank ... I really don't know what to say. This is wrong on so many levels, but Wargaming simply doesn't seem to understand.
eekeeboo: It's not just about the size of the picture but the angle
you look at and the filters you use (to continue your analogy). Any
tank in the hands of skilled players (as is this from rewards) is
going to seem OP, is it the player or the tank that makes the
difference? Just an example of how you can look at it,
based on the values that you want to judge tanks on, should Type 5
be buffed or nerfed? Now think about what is the intended game role
for the tank, does it fulfill this on par or not? OK so it's meant
as a tank to take punishment, so if it gets penned by heat rounds
than something with spaced armour, it's wrong, time to buff. - Why
don't you do this? Because there's more things to consider.
ToodlePips, on 17 January 2019 - 07:55 PM, said: The argument that an overpowered tank does not destroy MM on
the grounds that it is rare is a pretty poor one in my eyes -
either you want to create a balanced game or you don't. Wargaming
apparently doesn't, which is fair enough, of course - it's
their game, after all. They just can't expect the majority of
players to support such policies, though. Tbh it seems to me that
they are specifically designing the game for a very limited target
group, which seems pretty short-sighted. You'd think they would
have started wondering by now why the game's player base is
eroding. Btw, the Multicore support is a good thing, of
course, easily the best feature of 1.4. eekeeboo: No the point is that, if you see the tank as being OP, is it
OP because o the tank or because of the player? Because it has a
good WR does that mean it is OP? How does that affect the decision
on things like.... A tank may have an above average or far higher
average of taking damage from artillery, so you'd look at the
reasons for this, can you reduce the damage it takes from arty
without breaking anything else? Well one way to find out is to test
it and see what happens if it works, yay, if not .... then back to
see what happens. This is before you even consider
what it means to creat "balance" and developing a game for
challenge and putting in mechanics and systems in place to
encourage people to play, pay and grind.
Lorensoth, on 17 January 2019 - 08:27 PM, said: This is one of main issues of WoT. Even if they accept problems, it
take them like 2-3 year to even start working on fixes. Except
buffing russian tanks. They have to be on par at worst with every
other lane. For example, they recently caunt few TX tank to be
balanced "by next year". Meanwhile, they casually buffed 279e over
night.eekeeboo: I am curious how many hours do you have in a night?
Because it's been a while to collect data, assess and test a chance
and even more before a tank change can happen. And that's a single
tank not a lines of tanks... I'm curious just how much sleep do you
get a night based on the length of time.
5everin, on 17 January 2019 - 09:18 PM, said: I hope you had the decency to feel embarresed while
typing that.eekeeboo: No one should be embarassed about wanting to be objective
and want to find the reasons for and against an action before
making a judgement. But.... I suppose not everyone considers such
things to be decent behaviour.
IndigoWendigo, on 17 January 2019 - 10:11 PM, said: So the 279 got thicker on the front. This is extra weight! NERF THE
TURNING SPEED ON SOFT GROUND! The tank is too heavy. Even in
KUBINKA tank museum it broke the concrete beneath him and started
sinking in the ground!eekeeboo: How could you fat shame a tank!?
Legionar_2000, on 17 January 2019 - 10:39 PM, said: I don't think this was the case in the buff of the 279 (e).
According to Wotlife's server statistics, there are currently 245
players who played at least one battle with the 279 (e). They have
an average of 65.55% WR and 3446 DPG. It is obvious that as of now,
only the best of the best players have it and even out of them only
those who are active as the former operations required dedication
as well. Even though you could say that the skill level of these
players make the tank to produce such statistics, the reality is
that while it has an extremely tiny LFP as of now that can be
penned, it is the most armored tank in the game with a powerful
gun. It eats lower tiers for breakfast and it still offers really
good protection against same tier tanks firing gold. The only real
enemies of this tank are high caliber HE firing guns, such as
FV4005 or Type 5, and arty. (I dont want to speak about the
gameplay and tanks that this promotes.) In case the player
positions himself in a way that enemies can only shoot its front,
and doesnt get flanked and shot in the side or in the rear, it will
survive almost everything. Given the current corridor-style maps,
it is quite easy to find such positions with this tank. And the
players who have the tank, are certainly capable of playing this
tank in this way, therefore we have a tank that wins 65% of the
games it participates in. There are matchups where having a 279 (e)
on you team basically means a win in 95% of the cases. I am
by no means the best player out there, but for me it is quite sad
that my beloved game has started to become unbalanced. It isnt hard
to modify parameters such as reload time, armor thickness or
dispersion if a tank is clearly over- or underperforming. I dont
understand why arent there weekly fixes to OP or UP tanks. It would
please a lot of players if their favourite vehicle would be
playable. Not OP, not UP, inbetween them. I do understand as
someone who is quite into economics that it wouldnt generate as
much profit if people wouldnt freeXP to the new OP tier10 tank or
if they wouldnt buy the newest tier 8 premium. But these short-term
gains have awful effects in the long run, and that is something
that should be quite obvious to those who are responsible for
balancing this game, because I think that at least 90% of the
players out there who have at least 52-53% recent win ratio with a
decent average tier (I wrote this because I believe around that
level you start to understand how this game works as a whole),
would be able to create better balance in this game if you would
give them a chance to buff/nerf the tanks they want to. And I
believe this is what makes everyone unhappy about the current
situation. On the topic, if you want to keep this tank
balanced without an LFP, you should significantly nerf UFP so that
it becomes something like a 907s UFP. It could be troll when
hitting the edges of it, but lower tiers need a weakspot which can
be penned with gold on higher tier tanks but can be made hard to
hit by smart play. I think the gun of the 279(e) is fine,
especially considering its speed compared to its Russian and
Chinese counterparts which allows the 279(e)s gun to be extremely
reliable, but the armor certainly isnt. You either have to
significantly nerf the armor or the gun, and in order for it to
stay playable and rewarding in the current meta, the nerf should
effect its armor. If you would want it to become similar to the
average tier 10 balance-wise, than you could nerf the viewrange or
you could make its cupola weaker or bigger as well(looking at you
E5). To sum it up, I think you should make all tier
10s to be on the level of the current E5. I think that tank could
be a perfect example what most players want as "balanced tier 10 in
a balanced game": it can be rewarding if its commander is
sidescraping correctly with it and hides the cupola behind the
wall, but it can be dealt with even with lower tiers if the player
in it doesnt use his tank to its strength. I know there is little
to no chance that this will actually happen but I became frustrated
enough to write an essay about it after months and months.
Looking forward to play a balanced game with you all
together, Legionareekeeboo: Thank-you for the detailed and well thought out response,
please bear with while i try to give it justice
In the case of the
279, it's true it has big strengths, but at the same time it can
also have some values out of line with the intended averages
(perhaps the amount of damage taken from splash damage),
encouraging people to shoot at the floor vs the tank isn't usually
adviseable. And I've covered how balancing can take a
long period of time to take place, in this case I can give a small
example. If you look at just a small example and you look at only
performance parameters in damage and WR etc, why do tanks like the
T29 not get nerfed? Tier for Tier in heavies. What job does it
have? What role does it perform, how does it measure against all
vehicles of the tier and what it can see etc. What about the tanks
that lead up to it? What about the grind from stock to top etc.
There's so much to consider it all has to be done carefully or you
do get instances that people like to highlight as being OP game
breaking, but compare this to the amount of tanks that were
released with no such complaint, there's a definite skew on the
perception.
ortega456, on 17 January 2019 - 11:35 PM, said: Guys, regarding the 279e buff it is totally obvious for me:
1. They realised that lots of those missions were too hard for many
people. So people didn't go for the reward tank missions with
enough focus thus didn't play enough 2. They've also realised that
the reward tanks didn't have enough fame nor attraction to go for.
None of the streamers called those tanks OP often enough so they
had to make an already good vehicle OP for people to have a new
goal and go crazy for it. Why? Because people will play
more, convert more free xp to get the tanks they need for the
mission, and therefore buy more premium time, premium consumables
and whatnot just to be able to get the necessary tanks for missions
and fullfilling the missions themselves. This creates direct
revenue for WG. All the uproar by the community and
ESPECIALLY by the streams will lead to propagate the information
about those "OP" reward tanks and many people, who wouldn't have
heard about those tanks nor had the goals to get them will start
doing the missions. Even this "bad publicity" is therefor really
helpfull for WG. it was similar with the T-22, 430U, Type 5,
Obj 268v4, buffed Maus and so on . Former really bad lines most
people skipped or were not interested at all were buffed to an OP
level so everybody went crazy and started going for those lines
converting free xp, buying gold, premium, playing more and so on.
It's a businessmodel decision and it seems like the business
men take more and more over at WG instead of balancing it out with
reasonable long term strategy developers point of view. A strong
argument about my point is how the heck can they deduce the
performance of a vehicle that 200players have and is out for only a
short time while they "need to gather statistics" for months/years
on tanks like AMX 65T, Tiger II (look at wot-news.com tank
curves...), 121, Leopard 1 and still don't buff them while tanks
like Type 5, Obj. 268v4, 430U etc. are out there for a long time
and they needed or still need months in order to gather statistics.
Often they say that if a tank is not out for a long time
only the best players have the tank and they can't say anything
about general statistics but about obj. 279e only the créme de la
créme players have it and they already know what's going on...
Sorry, but WG lost their credibility about those decisions and
obviously they value a short term revenue through manipulative
tactics more than player retention and a long term strategy to keep
players satisfied. So sad! Other than that I like seeing
some ridiculous missions (block 2x you HP +3k dmg for a coalition
vehicle....or 8k dmg + 5kills) replaced or nerfed, will get those
missions all done easilly when 1.4 goes live.eekeeboo: I hope you take the time to read the replies above.
