A Helping Hand for Holiday Ops

Cobra6, on 11 December 2018 - 08:08 AM, said: There seems to be a disconnect between statistically not
breaking the game and breaking the gameplay for players. Having
skirmishes swamped with Defenders is not fun in any way, it's
clearly better then the competition so it gets picked. A couple of
years ago the IS-3 was pretty dominant but despite that the
AMX100, T32, 110 and other tanks were frequently used as well.
Nowadays it's only Defenders and Patriots, stale, boring and
breaking the gameplay *for players*. Also, some can be seen as over
performing? Look at the win ratios of the tanks you are selling
compared to the competition, most are over performing and some by
quite a margin. People will not buy the premium they like,
they will buy the tank they'll win most games in as winning is fun
and losing is not. So the premium they will like most is the
premium they win with a lot. Hence why over performing premiums and
tech-tree tanks are always so popular and why it's a bad idea to
put more of them on the battlefield. They kill variation and push
all other vehicles to the back. And you are right, tech tree
tanks *CAN* be uncomfortable but in the last few years and
especially the last few tech trees there are now more uncomfortable
tanks in there then comfortable ones and we both know this didn't
used to be the case back in 2012/2013. Wargaming needs to
understand that while they will make money with all the free-XP'ing
that needs to happen to make new tanks/trees bearable, they are
scaring away/exhausting a lot of their (new) players and with the
stagnant growth, this is the last thing Wargaming can afford right
now. I always hope for good changes but honestly, pretty
soon it will be too late unless drastic changes are announced that
address issues which have been raised by the community for years.
There is more and more (public) discontent and the clock is
ticking. We don't want WoT to go away, heck speaking for myself I
still love this game despite it's many (years long) mistakes, but
it's getting harder and harder press that battle button. As
example: My brother and a good friend who've been with this game
since beta both played it for years but got sick of the problems
that didn't get fixed. They stopped playing for more then two years
and then came back to play a year ago or so. Really nice
playing WoT with them again but they've already left again as (with
their fresh perspective) they noticed the only thing Wargaming was
doing was shoveling out more premiums and perpetuating problems.
They aren't the only one and they are "old hands" for this game and
they are *STILL* running into the same issues. It's just an
example but they surely aren't the only ones. Cobra 6eekeeboo: As mentioned before the issue with just taking a small
sample like skirmishes is that generally the most engaged kitted
out to be full gold etc. It's important the balance department
looks at the whole picture in every instance. I know most people
use premiums in things like skirmishes because of the credit making
potential just as much as the utility potential in numerous
engagements. I understand the tech tree tanks issue
too, I think this is an issue synonymous with the sheer number of
vehicles we have in game now along with a lot of new mechanics and
system changes. Combined with very different map styles (for better
or for worse) than then that suit certain play styles and tank play
styles vs the others. I too hope the balancing comes (I'm sure it
will), but I also understand the time required for such things when
other things are being balanced and changed (Sorry to repeat, but
again something that will be shared soon). I
understand the player sentiment also, my parents also play the
game, and I have a rather unique perspective on the type of players
and challenges they may face. Part of this is also not just
challenges and changes, but as you're aware, some things come and
go for people. I too generally cycle through games with shiny
events and things to do. (I'm a person who likes shiny things,
don't judge!) Once again, thanks for the feedback, I'm
sure you're already aware of the things I've mentioned, I also want
you to know I am too aware of the things you mention, but of course
I want to express it, just in case.
