The Incinerator. Is it all luck?

eekeeboo: Rather than tell you to not focus on the mission etc I'm going to answer a question you actually asked. I am reiterating previous help and advice but I will add, for those who are saying don't focus on missions etc etc, for some of us, we enjoy playing the game for objectives and having something to aim for keeps us interested and motivated in playing.    Below are things you should consider and have been said many times on this forum......   Yes it is a lot of RNG and can be frustrating if you play against people with auto extinguishers and good crews etc.    For the above reason you want to minimise the level of RNG by following some simple rules to increase chances of doing this mission.    If you can, platoon and use your platoonmates to draw fire allowing you to get around them etc.  You should choose rapid firing guns (not necessarily high alpha) to increase the amount of hits on engines (if this is how you want to go about the mission) I suggest you go for a rapid fire gun with average dpm so you can if you find the tank damage the fuel tank module.  Next suggestion is you focus on actual fuel tanks on models, and if those are not obvious then you can focus on the engine for chances of fire.    I have completed the missions in the following tanks: Firefly, cromwell and the t69 (for the 260 mission).    I suggest the firefly because of the accuracy, high pen and low damage, with the added bonus of being against mostly tanks up to 7/8 and you can take advantage of a lower number of auto extinguishers and lower crew skills that affect your chances.    Tanks others did it in: Cromwell, A43, Comet etc, and then you get the cent 7/1 with hesh rounds etc etc.    Tanks you should aim for:   KV (any of them) or IS, all of these have easy to see fuel tanks on the models with large engine bays for you to shoot,  French tanks, with low armor and also with large fuel tanks/engine at the back for the heavies while the new medium lines can mostly be set on fire from the from and sides also.  American heavy tanks like the T1, M6, T29 etc are also good for the mission if you can get behind them or shoot them at the right angle to hit the side fuel tanks.  Certain German tanks are also really good like the Tiger and Tiger 2 if you can aim and the back upper engine bay, these can be difficult though because of how quickly they can turn and angle at you though.    Don't get me wrong you can set just about any tank on fire, but things like t34s can be torched pretty nicely if you hit the fuel tanks while they're side scraping. KV3/4 is my particular favorite because the fuel tanks are low enough than you can usually shoot down through the fuel tanks and at the engine if you're in something like a firefly.      I also forgot, make sure you get deadeye... this will help so much, you wouldn't believe.
