Locking Forum Topics

Дата: 21.10.2010 06:55:26
Quote Ok, this one is targeted at the moderators of the forums. Why do you guy lock so many forum threads? Ok, I get why you lock them complaining about SPG's or gripes and such (and repeated posts about the same subject), but the link below, posted by a guy with(in my opinion a good idea), it is automatically locked and I cannot post a reply.
http://forum.worldof...nd-fun-for-all/
Yes, there are topics out there that need to be locked (or better yet, deleted off the forums), but to many get locked with no real explanation as to why. These are your forums and you can do with them what you want (as is your RIGHT), but stopping people from talking about a thread can be just as bad. Instead of having hundreds of post about SPG's(as an example) and then locking them, let one go and roll with it.
Thanks

Tanitha: The rules are here.
http://forum.worldof.../forum/4-rules/
Due to the developers wishing to be able to read through their forums without having to read 100,000's of junk posts, And the fact that there is now 150k+ users on this forums. We are required to lock threads that break the rules outlined above.
Thread's aren't just randomly locked, the reason and a explanation of why is usually recorded within the post.
That post you linked for example, isn't even locked. You cant reply to that particular thread because its posted into a section that requires 50 posts to be able to post to. There is various posts discussing this section and its 50 minimum post rule.
And as for your artillery example, Yes, there is no need for 1000's of separate posts on artillery. And yes one main thread for its discussion is here. http://forum.worldof...ery-discussion/ It currently contains 184 pages and 3500+ posts.

Quote 2.4 Off Topic, spamming and trolling
This category includes:
• Excessively communicating the same phrase, similar phrases, or pure gibberish
• Creating threads for the sole purpose of causing unrest on the forums
• Causing disturbances in forum threads, such as picking fights, making off topic posts that ruin the thread, insulting other posters
• Making non-constructive posts
• Abusing the Reported Post feature by sending false alarms or nonsensical messages
• Numbering a thread, IBTL, TLDR, or any other fad statements
Please make sure that you post your new threads and postings in the appropriate forum. This helps your fellow players and us to maintain an overview and so be able to respond faster with an appropriate answer to your question. Before beginning a new thread, look to see if an active thread on that topic has already been established using the Search feature. If so, place your comments there instead. Keep discussions about one topic to one thread only.
Posts which drift off topic, or content-free posts will be edited or removed. Posting multiple messages with the same content across several forums is unwelcome and inappropriate, since such activities divide the targeted discussions and makes gathering feedback considerably more difficult for us. Such ‘cross posts’ will be merged, closed and redirected or removed. Before beginning a new thread, look to see if an active thread on that topic has already been established using the Search feature. If so, place your comments there instead. Keep discussions about one topic to one thread only.
