Ph3lan: This is my first comment on the WoT forums, but I had so much fun
in this tank that I wanted to share my experiences with you
guys.
The T29 is by far the best tank I've used in this game. Before it, I went up the german heavy tier and reached the King Tiger. Then I decided to try out the US heavies with their paper hulls and rock hard turrets. My goal was to reach the T29, because whenever I went up against a good T29 driver in my tigers, I usually got my ass handed to me (other times I simply destroyed them if the tanker was bad).
Currently I have everything researched on my T29 with 100% crew plus rammer, gun laying drive and ventilation equiped.
I don't think statsitics matter much but I have well over 2 to 1 kill/death ratio with the tank, my max experience per battle is 2839 and my avarage experience per battle is around 750.
What is more important however, is that I really feel like driving a Tank! not some paper tissue box like the Tiger. If I play my cards right shots ding off me, left and right in this tank. The 90 mm was a good gun on the M6 but it is worse than mediocre on the T29, the 105 mm however is a beast. With the 90 mm I had trouble vs other tier 7 heavies. With the 105 I can go up against Tier 8 if I am in a good position. Against tier 9 and 10, I can still use HE to do some hp and module damage from afar, or shot their weak spots when close (although that's generally a bad spot to be in).
Against autoaimers its Godly, the turret bounces everything from the front, but against people who actually know how to aim at my hull it is esential to use hull down or some other way to protect my weak spots. You simply need to learn some good spots in every map if you want to use this tank.
Probably because the turret is so hard to penetrate, I barelly have any module damage or dead crew members at all, which is great compared to the german Tigers. My loader and gunner have bought so many farms in the Tiger that they probably own half of Germany between the two of them by now.
After playing this tank I rarelly feel like driving my german tanks anymore and when I do I am usually disapointed. Currently my plan is to sell my King Tiger and buy a T32 instead as soon as I have the 30K exp I still need to research it. I'll keep my T29 as my main elite tank.
See you on the battlefield
