'cause the number of bounces I get when fighting Type 59 with guns that should penetrate doesn't make sense, even when calculating for slope and normalisation.
Type 59 front upper hull: 100mm angled at 60 degrees from vertical
Line of sight thickness = 200mm
with 8 degrees normalisation = 162.4mm
with 6 degrees normalisation = 170.1mm
I get a 50/50 penetration/bounce rate when I fight Type 59s at 100 meter (or less) ranges in my Panther II with its 203mm pen 88mm L/71... even when the target is completely unangled and facing me directly.
Hell, I get frequent bounces even when I'm shooting downwards into the upper hull at close range.
Either the Type 59 has a 10% or 20% bonus to its armor, or there is something seriously wrong with the penetration on the 88mm L/71.
Overlord: A lot depends on the impact angle. Since T59 has a rather low
profile, they can be rather large (especially if the opponent
timely traverses its hull to increase it). As for its armour,
nothing special about it.
