the proliferation of tier 8 premium tanks, which sadly nothing much
can be done about anymore.
If you look at the unofficial server statistics I posted not quite a month ago, you can see that, for example, 27.41% of all games ever played on the server in tier 8 mediums since release were played with the Type 59, and that despite the Type 59 being introduced much later.
I will post a new snapshot before 0.7.0 covering only the last month and I expect the numbers to show that the Type 59 is being played more often than all other tier 8 mediums combined, as is currently the case on the Russian server (link). The same goes for tier 8 heavies, Löwe + KV-5 combined are played nearly as often as all four researchable tier 8 heavies combined.
In total, on the Russian server the three tier 8 premium tanks are played as often as all other seven researchable tier 8 medium + heavy tanks combined.
While the behaviour of the player base to spend most of their time in premium tanks to grind credits for the acquisition of other tanks that they will rarely play in comparison is slightly schizophrenic, it is also entirely expected.
Personally, I think it is a real shame, makes the game rather bland by reducing the variety of opponents you see, and unhealthy for the game in the long run, because as long as WG keeps releasing new tanks it will only get worse (although new premium tanks will diversify their usage somewhat).
So, to come to an end and to actually pose two questions before I get banned for spamming:
Is the usage ratio of premium vs non-premium vehicles as expected by WG?
Should current or future usage ratios ever be considered undesired by WG, what means do you envisage to change the balance, considering you stated that you will not nerf premium tanks directly (but might buff all other tanks), and considering that mid-tier targeted special events are always just short-term measures and battles played in those tiers drop sharply as soon as an event ends?

Overlord: There might be a problem in terms of each individual battle, where
we sometimes get 8-14 and even more T59 tanks (it's especially
noticeable on RU server). It might be a good idea to introduce
special matchmaking for it, capping max number per side.
As for balance, we would rather buff non-premium opponents, than nerf a premium vehicle.
