After that he remained as POW until the end of the war. He tried escape twice from german camp but was captured on every attempt. Second time he nearly managed to get to his family(he escaped from camp situated next to Rhine river and he was captured just 20 miles from place where he lived in Poland). At last he was freed by French soldiers nearly at the end of the war. It was amazing to hear all the stories about the beginning of the war in Poland(he served in Army of Krakow), forming of the 2 Polish Corps in USSR, the journey to Italy passing Iran, Palestine and the first battle on Monte Casino and the german camps. I owe him my interest in history...
