- why World of Warcraft is popular? because there is no better game in that market segment - don't take high popularity as result of excelence - sometimes there is simply nothing better. once something better will show, number of players will decrease.

Developers are able to use statistics based on 500+k active users.
You mentioned thousands people who state something to developers. May I ask where are your data from? May you name, let's say, 1000 of them with evidence? I'm just curious.
