ZakZimmerman, on 14 May 2014 - 10:33 AM, said: Well like most WOT players I have my grumbles with the game, but
like all players I know that despite the game's little annoyances
it is still something I totally enjoy playing. And after enduring
runs of poor matchmaking, idiot team mates, stupid mistakes of my
own (we all make them), one-shot arty deaths, "That one bounced!"
fifteen times in a row and all those other irritating little gems
that just make the whole experience so wonderfully random... I
still spend (considerable) money on the game every month and have
done for over two years. I couldn't tell you how much I've spent as
I really don't want to know, but last night that might all have
come to an end - and not because of any of the aforementioned
irritations. At about 9:30pm I was involved in a game
with the usual banter between players on both sides - it wasn't
offensive or personal and there was actually a pretty good vibe to
the battle. Players on both teams were contributing to the chat and
no-one was being insulted or victimized. Despite this one of our
players in a Type-59 was threatening both sides with game banning
if we didn't stop personal insults. Needless to say there were lots
of "?" from both sides as there were NO personal insults being
typed. Regardless the threat of a ban was repeated again and again
by this player and basically annoying everyone else in the game.
Rather than actually taking part in the battle, this player
seemed to be on a one-man crusade to bait the other players. After
the game I decided (rather foolishly it would now seem) to tell
this player what I thought of him - he'd ruined a perfectly
well-mannered game for most of the other players. 5 minutes later I
get banned for 24 hours for telling that idiot what I thought of
him! I consider myself a very sportsmanlike player and will
generally tolerate the idiot - you'll get one in every game.
As a rule I don't abuse other players although like most players,
in the heat of battle, will respond to accusations of being a
"noob" or a "tard" by telling someone to... er... be quiet. It's
certainly not uncommon and if Wargaming banned a player for telling
other players to STFU then there servers would get very empty very
quickly. What irks me here... is that the player that was
responsible for banning me was deliberately baiting players,
knowing full well they had the power to ban them. I can understand
players being banned for racial abuse or offensive language in the
game chat, but this was a deliberate act to annoy other players
hoping that they would respond. Utterly utterly disgraceful. This
has annoyed me to the point where I am seriously considering
uninstalling the game. Anyone that knows my name or has ever played
alongside me will know that I am a decent and capable player who
enjoys the whole WOT experience - but this really has left a very
bad taste in my mouth. I'd be interested to know if anyone
else has experienced a similar situation and if so would urge them
to share. I got the distinct feeling that this was not a Wargaming
dev but someone with privileges they were clearly happy to abuse.
IPaul72: Hello there As Costarring previously said you can always
apply
to support to have the sanction reviewed. However,
pm'ing someone after the game as ended to tell them what you think
of them is never a good thing. Being as I'm a player also
(generally a target for all the enemy team being WG) I know the
temptation is there. I think the lesson to be learn't from this is
don't them draw you to their level stiff upper lip and move
on

Or alternatively use the turn of chat
function or this cleverly engineered mod below:
