Advent Calendar 2019: Day 25

Falathi:  Yup, nothing last forever but that`s not the reason to not to do anything, not to buy anything, not to enjoy anything. "We`re here, for a little while" to quote George Carlin - so why not enjoy it? And quite few people seem to enjoy World of Tanks, among other things :)

The problem now is that we have tanks where everything is completly top (op-tanks), good tanks (at last one downside), borderline ok tanks (at last 2 downsides) and craptanks (nearly every relevant stat is at the bottom). If i now get something like the Progetto then we have good mobility, good alpha for this tanktype combined with good gunhandling and just the armor is a bit unreliable. Now we get the VK 75 that has maximum medicore armor, bad mobility, bad gunstats and good alpha. The amount of downsides overrides here the good things and makes this tank a pretty hard to play and unreliable one, completly apart from any graphics chard. If Wargamings balancing would now say that every tank they balance will at last have only 2 downsides and 2 upsides we are on the half way of getting more vehicles that generate a satisfying gameplay feel without making them all too equal or boring. For sure, this is not fully failsafe but at last it would be a better base to start off when balancing a new tank without risking to make it "feel" crap when playing. [...]

Falathi:   Let me relate to this: yes, Progetto is quite powerful - but effectively it has no armor whatsoever, meaning it can be quickly destroyed if you feel overconfident. It`s a tank that can be fun to play and is pretty powerful - but only if you know how to play it and how to avoid getting hit.  VK is a different story - for a heavy it has acceptable mobility. Gun handling could be better ( although if you aim fully it`s pretty accurate ), armor has weakspots... true. It is not an OP tank.
However, in a way it`s easier to play than Progetto - it`s still going to bounce much more than this tank. Also, it has massive alpha for a HT - so it requires entirely different playing style. I`d say it does not allow for such epic scores as Progetto and some other tanks, but it`s still quite playable and capable of making a difference. Also, it`s one of the few vehicles you can use when you want to learn how to play with rear-turreted tanks.
