Pathfinder - Questions & Answers

You can literally get 20k gold for just shooting the red tanks more than your team if someone else is doing the yolo moves/spots. I think I'm getting something like 7 days of premium by just driving in first/taking the shots and letting my bobs shoot the tanks. The tournament as a whole felt pretty good, but it was pretty hard to care about it when I saw that I'm not going to get anything useful just after 2 days of playing even though we got 36 points since I didn't farm enough damage or play tank that can ram the enemies for 300 extra dmg every round.:teethhappy:   I (and my team) really hated to play Redshire, the map is way too easy to camp on and doesn't require any kind of aggression. The cap is too open to actually put any sort of effective cap pressure in 3v3 since the tank capping can either be crossfired without complete map control and knowledge of enemy tanks locations or can't effectively participate in a brawl.   We thought Erlenberg would be the same, but actually it felt surprisingly okay, since the cap is very well covered the enemies need to come close to either reset or just drive in the circle, and since you can cross the river way easier nowadays, it made it  easier to do an aggressive push on the enemies if you only knew the side of the river they were on. I still think the map is not really good for the format because of all the camp spots and the game always comes down to the same location (middle/cap circle).   Malinovka felt fine, but it might be due to the fact that all our 4 games were hill brawls. The map could be camped/intentionally drawed pretty easily from both sides.    Sand river felt good, the map was actually pretty good to play on, had pretty bad expectations towards it but it seemed to be a fast-paced engagement or a camp you could actually break with careful capping and such. Could be put into the daily tournament rotation imo, I won't play them anyway but whatever. Way better/balanced than Mines for example.

CLRG: Hello there :)   Thanks for the awesome feedback. The map testing is exactly what this tournament was about, so it's great for us to see which maps worked and which ones we should avoid in the daily rotation. I'm glad the team had nice surprises on some of them. We will test out Redshire a bit more in week 2 and see what we do with it afterwards. The "traditional rotation" is: Himmelsdorf, Ensk, Lakeville, Mines, Ruinberg. Do you feel that some of the Pathfinder maps would be better choices than these? We're interested to see what you think on this.    Regarding the damage variable, we more or less expected what you mention, but we still thought it would be a nice one-time tweak for this specific competition. It's not necessarily something we want to introduce on the long run, but we want to throw in more "unusual" formats in the weeks to come, just to spice things up a little, and offer you a chance to play with reward conditions you don't find in normal battles. So don't be surprised if some strange rules show up in the near future (spoiler: one of our next ideas is a tournament with reduced cap time!). Also, I had hoped that having physical prizes for top damage dealers (as opposed to teams ranked 1st) would allow the non-potential winners (ie-teams that would finish 3-6) to have a decent shot at scoring hardware for once. We are in the process of calculating all of this, so we'll see if this turns out to be wishful thinking. ;)    Thanks again for sharing your feedback. :)

CLRG: You definitely will. :) Our goal was to deliver the results of week 1 before the start of week 2. We should be able to do so. I need to point out that the portal article specifically said the results would be here at "the end of the competition", which means... after week 2. Giving ourselves a little security margin, so don't hold your breath! :)

CLRG: Thank you for thinking of us. :) We hope you had a nice family time. Personally, on an Easter egg hunt, I found a chocolate duckling. I chose to bite the head off first.    For the record, managing the tournaments and associated forums is (part of) the work of a small team, and it is correct to say that unless there is a tournament planned we usually don't work on weekends or bank holidays. :) Still, we aim to never leave you guys hanging without an answer for too long. Also, it should be noted that many times, all the questions asked here can find an answer on the portal news. Wow, shots fired! :D
