Capitao_Desastre_: Not a bad race. The new mode is loads of fun. Too much fun, I would say 

Sorry for not replying to your invitation for a race platoon, I've been playing the new mode on and off - a race here, work, two races, more work, one race, work, etc.... 

Pigeon_of_War: So, just to reiterate, if you are having constant issue where if you click the battle button and it crashes to desktop, you may want to consider submitted a Tech Support ticket.    When you click battle and do not load into it properly, you are hurting your team by not being able to participate. I totally understand that it might be a hardware or software issue, but perhaps you can allow us to help you as opposed to throwing the dice and hoping you load into battle. 

As for those that are saying you want the ability to leave battle whenever you want, well, you can. Bear in mind if you click he Desert button, you will be warned as a deserter. Continuous repeats of this action might just get a suspension on your account. The purpose of the system is to dissuade this type of action, afterall. 

Pigeon_of_War: This is something we are looking into. I'll have more information on it later.

The_Chieftain:   I'm going to disagree with you, there. It means that range estimation errors, which are  no uncommon thing in the days before laser rangefinders, are far less of a factor in hitting the target. 

The_Chieftain:   It wasn't doctrine, it was just that there were so damned many of them already built and waiting to be used. If there were doctrinal issues, they wouldn't have made the decision in late 43 to stop building them. (Click the link to the article I referenced in this article)   i don't believe there was a Tiger within miles of Kasserine pass. You were looking at PzIVs and M13s.

The_Chieftain: I've read the script, so I am working on more than just the clip. I'm just not giving any clues about the outcome in my article. :)

The_Chieftain: I think most people have agreed that it bounces off the front, not the side.

The_Chieftain:   I'm not saying that no 5-tank formations lost 3 M4s before killing Tiger, just that it was not necessarily going to be a negative loss rate. There are so many more variables to take into account that no two engagements will be identical. 76mm wasn't used sooner because it took them several tries before they created a tank which incorporated the gun satisfactorily. Pretty much all German combat vehicles were petrol, not diesel. The M4A2 was a diesel powered Sherman, as was the ultra-rare M4A6. Israelis mounted a long 75 and 105mm cannon on their Shermans.

The_Chieftain: I enjoy it. The 'nerf' was nothing of the sort. If you're relying on the frontal hull armour of an American tank to begin with, you're doing something wrong.

The_Chieftain:   Actually, a Sheridan is theoretically possible. They tried mounting anything from a 76mm to a 105mm on it in addition to the 152, and the first few Sheridans built had the 152 but no missile firing electronics.

The_Chieftain:   Well, it -is- based off a personnel carrier...

The_Chieftain: I've deleted some comments which contribute nothing to the conversation.   It is my sad experience that the military's level of education outside the proscribed course curriculum and requirements is unfortunately low, especially when one goes to the level of technical specifications, and can be somewhat superficial when it comes to historical analyses. (Look at how AFVID is taught and tested today, as my personal favourite).   The bottom line is that a non-HVAP 76mm shell could indeed still bounce off a Tiger 1, especially if it hit the reinforced parts of the mantlet or an angled front hull. That result was, however, by no means guaranteed, and the 76mm had a far chance of punching through. It was no longer the act of desperation to be firing rounds at a Tiger.   The ricochet off Pitt's tank doesn't seem unreasonable given the very shallow angle of impact on the front slope.

The_Chieftain:   "Proliferation" does not equal "Quality."   What does a Tiger (or Panther) gunner have which is equivalent to the Sherman gunner's unity periscope, for example? How much of a sector can the bow gunner observe on Tiger vs Sherman? How about the loader? Tiger gunner's fantasticly ground, super-clear through-mantlet telescope can still only scan what the engagement telescope is looking at (and then not from a turret-down position)

The_Chieftain: That works, though there doesn't seem to be a taxiway for him to drift off.
