SS stands for ShutzStaffel. the old nazi secret service. they were declared a Criminal orginization, and that is why the use is banned. the number 8 is the corrisponding number for the position of the letter H in the alphabet. so.. 88 means HH. neo-nazis use that as a code for 'Heil hitler', and is against German laws. i see that stuff on the stall doors at work, so it's very real.
so basically, anything that alludes to you promoting Nazi propaganda, or using Nazi symbols is banned. if you want to have a name that points to the 88mm Cannon, use '88mm', or 8.8cm, instead of just 88.
