stabbymckill: In the new Warspot article Yuri Pasholok
goes in depth discussing the development of the first British
Cruiser tank, the Tank, Cruiser, A9 also known as the Cruiser Tank
MK.I
The Mark I was an interesting mix of forward thinking and interwar multi-turreted anachronism. Nevertheless it served during the early part of British involvement in the second world war, fighting in the French, Greek and early North African campaigns. The A9's 2-pounder was adequate against the German early war Pz.Kpfw II and III and Italian tanks such as the M13/40, but the A9 itself was very vulnerable to all Axis anti tank weapons such as the 3.7cm PaK 36.
